Going public

I'm being published. You could say that the publisher is a small husband-wife team working with the local office supply company. Still, it's going public with 19,000 words that I've spent 190 hours writing. 100 wph, 10 credits, and 60 copies later, I have a work of umm, some thickness.

Wednesday, I will fly leave Dulles Airport a student and arrive in Nashville an author. I will spend the next five days smoozing and promoting my work. I can't imagine anything more terrifying. Why is finessing a sentence more rewarding to me than that? Still, the thrill of having a dedication page is worth it.

Dedication
To Daniel,
Because you believed I could do this and
because you gave me the inspiration in the first place.
I love you, Yankee.

I'm still packing suits and pumps so I don't reveal my status as a college senior with a severe introverted nature and lack of confidence. I can't wait to get home and do some more word wrestling. After all, I'm an author, not a PR agent.
